The series CRICS (Regional Congress on Health Sciences Information) started at 1992 at the same occasion of the III Biannual Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean System on Health Sciences Information.

This series started with the main objective of amplify the activities of the technical meeting at the same occasion and with the presence of the representatives of 37 countries of the region. This aims to promote an open forum of discussion on substantial themes on the use of information technology on Health Sciences area and with a compact program on continuing education.

The CRICS is structured in activities for three days, composed by a Keynote address, round tables, panels, conferences and continuing education sessions. The CRICS takes place immediately after the Meeting and nowadays is considered one of the most substantial Meetings at Health Sciences information area. The CRICS are promoted by Pan American Health Organization through BIREME that is also responsible for the Scientific Committee.
