Challenges of Change for an Information Manager

Lois Ann Colaianni, former Director of Operations at the U. S. National Library of Medicine), is one of the most anxiously awaited speakers at CRICS V. Her lecture will focus on an issue that affects everyone: how to manage accumulated knowledge in a context of change and migration in information bases.
Dr. Colaianni began her work at the NLM in January 1981 and served as Director of Operations from 1984 to 1998. The department she headed is the oldest and largest in the NLM. Among other responsibilities, she was in charge of building and preserving the Library's collection, developing and maintaining the Library's indexing and cataloguing capability, and providing organizational support for research, including the on-line format. Lois Ann Colaianni's name is a legend in the health information management sector, and her contribution to the panel discussion on April 27 from 09:00 to 12:00 AM will provide a unique opportunity for participants to learn from her extensive experience.
